Passing and receiving using oriented control-y drill
Edit by Marcin Chociaj (Uefa A Licensed Coach)

This is my third presentation about passing and receiving the ball using oriented control. As I mention last time I prefer to use more than two players who receive the ball while they are in movement which gives us more similarity to the real game.
I think this kind of exercise are complex because even if this activity is without the opponent it is connecting few aspects like technical (good first touch), physical (running for a free space), tactical (use the right foot to receive), mental (decision making – which will be proposed ad the last variation). I use just one or two technical aspects to provide the exercise.
As they say “Less is more” example: good first touch and pass with inside part of the foot. I hope you will enjoy this example as the idea for your next activity for your training session
Coaching points:
Receiving:
- Use inside part of the foot to receive the ball (toes slightly up to increase the space of receiving)
- Body position oriented in direction according to the next actions
- Soft first touch of the ball
- Lower center of gravity (bent knees)
- Always ready to receive the ball (player is on the move using short steps when he receive the ball)
